MANOEUVRE WITH EASE
Conventional methods for aircraft ground movement usually involve a tractor or tug and towbar. Various aircraft weights and undercarriage configurations require different towbars, forcing aircraft and airfield operators to invest in and maintain a wide range of equipment.
EASE, SPEED AND ACCURACY
The AVTRAC overcomes these problems and removes the risk of using cumbersome tractor and towbar units. A small, highly manoeuvrable, pedestrian-operated tug, the AVTRAC gently slides two scoops beneath the nose wheel from front and rear. The wheel is then carefully cradled and secured mechanically, before being lifted a few centimetres by the AVTRAC's powerful hydraulic system.
PULLING POWER
About one sixth of the aircrafts weight typically sits in the cradle, creating sufficient downward force to ensure the lightweight AVTRAC delivers slip-free traction and braking. One wheel either side of the nosewheel lifting assembly transmits pulling power, while a castoring wheel at the tug's opposite end allows it to rotate about the axis of the aircraft nosewheel leg.
